About the
PMC04 Training Package
The revised
Training Package replaces
PMC99.
All the
content of operations units from PMC99
has been carried forward. The list of
units in PMC04 and mapping to PMC99 has
details. Many support units have been
replaced with the equivalent ones from
the Chemical, Hydrocarbons and Oil
Refining Training Package (PMA02), so
that these two Training Packages now
share a greater number of units (PMC
has always shared units with
PMA).
The
environment units have also been
rewritten to better align with the way
jobs are done. These are identified by
the code which is PMASUP#2#.
A new suite
of quality units has been introduced to
reflect the updated attitudes of the
industry to quality. These have the
codes PMASUP#0#. They will not
necessarily contain the word 'quality'
in the title.

February 2004 replacing PMC99. The
endorsement of PMC04 expires on 31

NTIS web

All qualifications are available for
Registered Training Organisations who
wish to include them on their scope of
registration, and who wish to provide
training &/or assessment services
to companies on a fee for service
basis. Traineeships have not been
established in all States/Territories
for all qualifications, therefore
funded training and New Apprenticeship
incentive payments are not available in
some jurisdictions.
The units of competency are
available for use by companies, for
example, in their training and
development, HR, recruitment, quality
and other systems. Qualifications can
only be awarded by a Registered
Training Organisation.
For more information on traineeships
and incentives download the
Traineeships presentation from the
publications
page.
The endorsed component of the
Training Package is one volume
comprising the units of competency, the
qualifications framework and the
assessment guidelines. This is a
comprehensive package providing the
building blocks and framework for the
national qualifications.
A unit of competency describes the
standard of skills and knowledge
required for an aspect of a job.
The qualifications framework shows
how the units of competency can be
structured into a qualification. It
also provides information on
customising to meet the needs of an
enterprise, industry or learner.
The assessment guidelines outline
the industry requirements which enable
assessment of competency and award of
Statements of Attainment or
qualifications.
The Training Package offers the
opportunity to develop specialised
skills to meet a company or a trainee's
needs while providing a recognised set
of skills that are transferable across
the industry. Training can be done on
or off the job; it takes into account
new developments in your workplace
through the ease of customisation of
the competency standards.
Each qualification in the Training
Package can be customised under the
packaging rules specified. For example,
different combinations of elective
units can be chosen, and units can be
imported from other endorsed Training
Packages.
Units of competency can be
customised by contextualisation - the
inclusion of enterprise specific
details into the range of variables and
the evidence guide. This can reflect
the specific work practices, processes
and equipment of the enterprise, while
maintaining the integrity of the unit
of competency.
